The Minister of Skills Audit and Development, Professor Paul Mavima, has called on procurement professionals to prioritize marginalized groups when awarding public tenders.

Speaking at the 4th Annual Public Procurement Symposium in Bulawayo recently, the Minister emphasized that public contracts should benefit all citizens, not just a select few.

According to Minister Mavima, every public contract should create opportunities for disadvantaged communities and align with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.

He stressed that empowering local businesses and community groups through procurement is essential for driving inclusive growth and ensuring that national resources bring lasting value to the people.

The Minister urged procurement officers to align their work with Zimbabwe’s vision for equitable economic development, ensuring that public spending benefits the entire community.
