Bulawayo-based gospel artist Nkosi Herman Nyoni is set to record his debut live gospel recording “Glory” on August 24, 2025, at Eagle Life Ministries.
The project, rooted in giving glory to God, marks a major milestone in Nyoni’s music journey, which spans years of songwriting for renowned gospel groups such as Joyous Celebration and Worship Culture.
Speaking in an interview with Skyz Metro, Herman stated that the upcoming gospel live recording blends traditional Mbaqanga rhythms with contemporary English gospel sounds, while strongly incorporating Ndebele lyrics. Nyoni says the use of local language is his way of uplifting Ndebele in the gospel music scene and ensuring cultural representation.
“I wanted to create a gospel sound that originates from Bulawayo, most of the songs have Ndebele language, l’m trying to markert our language seeing how the gospel community is dominated by other languages,” said Nyoni.
Beyond music, the “Glory” project is also a call to action. Nyoni aims to use the event to inspire young people to turn away from drug and substance abuse. He revealed that the church played a major role in his own transformation from nightlife to spiritual purpose, and hopes others will find the same.
“The church was my escape from drugs, clubbing and all that, so l’m holding this event to help others out there just like me,” he said.
The free-entry event will feature several local gospel acts including Dunamis Men, Snowy, Dzwa, Tatenda Gurumbira, and the Eagle Life Praise & Worship Team. Bulawayo residents, especially youth, are urged to attend what could be a spiritually uplifting and transformative night starting from 5pm.
