Zimbabwe Cuts Farming Fees to Boost Livestock and Dairy Sector

The Government of Zimbabwe has reduced business fees and simplified regulations for livestock, dairy, and stockfeed farmers to promote farming and investment.
Launched under the theme “Zimbabwe is Open for Business”, the reforms aim to ease costs, boost production, and support rural livelihoods, especially as farming supports over 65% of Zimbabwe’s rural population.
Previously, small-scale farmers needed up to 25 permits from 12 different agencies,feed manufacturers required 23 permits from 10 departments-,beef cattle farmers faced 18 requirements while abattoirs needed 20 dairy processors 21, and 23 feed processors.
The Government has introduced key reforms to cut red tape , reduce costs and eliminate duplication of responsibilities.The key changes include farm registration certificates now at US$25 down from US$50–US$75, dairy processor fees have been cut from US$350 to US$50 one-time,
Meanwhile, feed manufacturing fees has also been reduced to US$20 from US$150–US$250,livestock movement fee dropped to $5 per animal,Duplicate local authority permits removed.
These changes are expected to grow the farming sector and improve Zimbabwe’s position in regional markets.
