Highlanders head coach Pieter De Jongh is determined to guide his team to a strong result as they face FC Platinum in a crucial league encounter on Sunday.

Speaking at a Highlander’s press conference today, De Jongh acknowledged his past ties with FC Platinum but made it clear his focus is now firmly on Highlanders.

“FC Platinum is a fantastic club very professional. I was head coach there in 2020 for almost a year and still keep in touch with a few people,” said De Jongh. “But now I’m at Highlanders, the biggest club in the country in terms of supporters, and our focus is on getting a good result on Saturday.”

The coach revealed that Highlanders are dealing with three to four injuries, including key players. Among them is vice vaptain Andrew Mbeba, who has been added to the injury list.

“Of course, it’s never good to miss key players even Pep Guardiola or Arne Slot face the same challenges. But the 11 players we put out must do the job,” he said.

De Jongh reiterated that the team’s goal is to reach 40 points in the league to ensure safety, needing just seven more from their remaining seven games.
