Rangers are the new kings of Zimbabwe cricket after sealing their first-ever National Premier League title in style.
On Saturday at Old Georgians Sports Club, they crushed Methane Lions by a massive 224 runs to lift the 2025/26 crown.
Opener David Johnson starred with a brilliant century, scoring 100 runs, while Jayden Schadendorf smashed a quick-fire 91.
Johnson shared a 136-run partnership with Jarod Basson, who made 66, before Johnathan Campbell added fireworks with an unbeaten 55 off just 25 balls. Rangers finished on an imposing 338 for four.
In reply, the Lions never got going, bowled out for just 114. Brandon James and Wallace Mubayiwa claimed three wickets apiece to seal the emphatic win.
Elsewhere, Amakhosi’s Ernest Masuku shone with the ball, taking five wickets for only 12 runs in a six-wicket win over Mbizo in Bulawayo.
There was late drama in two matches, with Queens Sports Club edging Alexandra by just one run in Kwekwe, and Takashinga Patriots 2 also beating Rimuka by the same margin at Old Hararians.
On Sunday, Roy and Innocent Kaia powered Takashinga Patriots 1 to a 10-wicket victory over Amakhosi 2, while Gladiators defeated Westside by five wickets.
At Masvingo, Nigel Bonyongwe struck a fine 92 as Eastern Titans beat Chiredzi by five wickets despite a strong all-round effort from Tendai Chisoro.
