The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has appointed an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to run the affairs of the Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU).

This comes after the dissolution of the ZRU National Executive Board and National Executive Committee over governance, compliance, and financial accountability concerns.

The IMC will be chaired by Mr. Paddy Zhanda, with members Ms. Latifa Kassim, Mr. Gareth Crabbe, Mr. Wellington Magaya, and Mr. Godwin Jaws Murambiwa. The team brings experience in governance, finance, and rugby administration.

The committee will serve for one year, with reviews every six months. Its mandate includes restoring financial accountability, preparing national teams for the 2027 World Cup, safeguarding athlete welfare, initiating constitutional reforms, and liaising with World Rugby and Rugby Africa for support.

SRC Chairman Dr. Nathaniel Madzivanyika said the move marks a new chapter for Zimbabwean rugby, focused on stability, accountability, and success. He assured that all domestic and international programmes will continue without disruption.

The IMC has been endorsed by the Ministry of Sport, World Rugby, and Rugby Africa, and will serve as a transitional body until fresh elections are held under the ZRU constitution and the SRC Act.
