The Chief Executive Officer of NetOne, Raphael Mushanawani, has been arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission on allegations of fraud involving more than one-point-two million US dollars.

Mushanawani is expected to appear before the Harare Magistrates Court today.

The case dates back to 2022, when NetOne contracted Farevic Systems to replace its SAGE 1000 system with a new Enterprise Resource Planning platform at a cost of three-point-five million US dollars.

While that project was still underway, Mushanawani and finance officer Christopher Muchechemera allegedly hired another company, Lunartech Solutions, to upgrade the same system.

What started as a two-hundred-and-fifty-seven-thousand-dollar job ballooned to over one-point-two million dollars through unapproved contract changes.

Mushanawani is also accused of signing a separate deal with Diztech Private Limited, paying nearly eighty-thousand dollars for training and consultancy services that were already covered under the original Farevic contract.

The arrest has raised fresh questions about accountability at the state-owned telecoms giant, as ZACC intensifies its crackdown on high-level corruption.
