The City of Bulawayo has announced a citywide blitz targeting traffic violators and informal traders with outstanding fines and unpaid fees, as part of its efforts to enforce municipal by-laws and restore order in the city.

According to a notice issued by Town Clerk Christopher Dube, the operation will focus on individuals and vehicles that violated the provisions of Statutory Instrument 220 of 2023 the City of Bulawayo Clamping and Tow-away By-Laws.

The crackdown will mainly affect operators of buses, kombis, and pirate taxis who were previously fined for picking up or dropping off passengers at undesignated points but have yet to settle their penalties.

Offenders will be required to pay both towing and storage fees in addition to the outstanding fines to recover their vehicles.

Meanwhile, the City of Bulawayo further advises all the informal traders operating at designated vending sites and bays to pay all their outstanding annual licence fees and monthly rentals with immediate effect as they will be covered in the exercise.

The exercise will cover all those with outstanding arrears.
