Bulawayo-Reading Strengthens Relations In The Developmental Sector

A high-level visit from the Mayor of Reading, UK, Her Worship Dr. Alice Mpofu-Coles, has sparked hopes of strengthened ties and developmental collaborations between Reading and Bulawayo.

Dr. Mpofu-Coles, the first female black Mayor of Reading, paid a courtesy call to Senator David Coltart, the Mayor of Bulawayo, and Mr. Christopher Dube, the Town Clerk, yesterday.

During the meeting, Dr. Mpofu-Coles expressed her delight in being back in Zimbabwe, emphasizing the significance of her election as a symbol of hope for minority groups. The two parties explored areas of possible cooperation, with a focus on research and business development, to advance mutual development.

Dr. Mpofu-Coles, who is also a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Reading, sees opportunities for strategic partnerships between the University of Reading and local institutions in Bulawayo.

The meeting concluded with a pledge to formalize discussions through written letters, outlining areas of interest and potential collaboration.
