The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Bulawayo, Judith Ncube, has pledged continued support and recognition for the elderly.

Speaking at a recently held luncheon for the elderly and vulnerable, Ncube said caring for older persons is a sacred responsibility and an investment in the future.

She described the elderly as pillars of the community, keepers of history, and a vital source of wisdom, adding that the event was meant to appreciate their contribution and create a space for shared memories.

Former Bulawayo Town Clerk, Moffat Ndlovu, also emphasised the importance of investing in the elderly and vulnerable.

He said the Christmas luncheon serves as a reminder that senior citizens have not been forgotten, noting that the gathering was an appreciation of the valuable work they have contributed to society over the years.

One of the elders who attended the event, Nomathemba Ndlovu, expressed her gratitude to Minister Judith Ncube after receiving a Christmas hamper.

She said it was her first time attending such an event and wished the Minister well.
