The Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Barbara Rwodzi, has welcomed the growing flow of travellers through Plumtree Border Post following the introduction of 24-hour operations.
During her visit, the Minister observed a noticeable increase in both diaspora and foreign arrivals. She said the positive trend reflects improved service delivery and supportive tourism policies under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Honourable Rwodzi described visitors from the diaspora and abroad as some of Zimbabwe’s biggest investors, saying their presence reinforces the national message that Zimbabwe is open for business.
She also praised the new digital Border Management System, which she said has made border clearance smoother and more efficient. Tourists, she noted, expressed satisfaction with the fast, welcoming and well-organised processes.
The Minister stressed that border posts are the first impression of Zimbabwe’s tourism sector, calling for strong cooperation across government departments to ensure visitors feel comfortable and are encouraged to stay longer in the country.
