Award-winning youth leader Nonsikelelo Moyo has called for greater support for young women’s mental health, saying many are struggling in silence due to limited access to services.

Moyo, whose organisation For A Black Girl recently won the Most Outstanding Youth-Led Organisation award at the Pumula Royal Arts and Community Awards, says her work focuses on helping young women cope with depression, anxiety, and everyday pressures.

She highlighted the Tea and Talk programme, which brings young women together with mental health professionals to create a safe space for honest conversations around mental wellbeing.

Moyo added that financial constraints remain a major barrier, with many unaware of free counselling services available to them. She highlighted that increasing awareness and safe community spaces can make a real difference in improving young women’s lives.
