Zimbabwe Under-19s fell to a heavy nine-wicket defeat against Pakistan Under-19s in the final of the youth one-day international tri-series played at Old Hararians Sports Club on Tuesday.

Zimbabwe’s innings got off to a disastrous start after losing the toss and batting first, collapsing to 15 for five inside seven overs. Pakistan paceman Umar Zaib tore through the top order with pace and movement, claiming four wickets and leaving the hosts in deep trouble.

The lone bright spot was Michael Blignaut, who showed composure beyond his years with a patient half-century. He steadied the innings and guided Zimbabwe to 158 all out, scoring 60 from 102 balls, with support from Tatenda Chimugoro, who made an unbeaten 28.

Pakistan made light work of the chase. Sameer Minhas produced a breathtaking innings, smashing 114 off 51 balls as Pakistan raced to the target in just 16 overs to seal the title.
