Government Highlights Gains in Quality Education Ahead of International Day of Education

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education says this year’s International Day of Education will focus on highlighting progress made in delivering quality education across the country.
Ministry spokesperson Taungana Ndoro says key achievements include the rollout of the Competence-Based Curriculum and continued investment in expanding school infrastructure, in line with the Constitution’s mandate to provide accessible education for all learners.
Speaking to Skyz Metro FM, Ndoro acknowledged that challenges remain, particularly around ensuring equity and consistent quality education across schools in different communities.
He stressed that government alone cannot address these gaps, adding that strong partnerships with communities, the private sector and development partners are critical to building a future-ready education system.
The International Day of Education will be commemorated on the 24th of January under this year’s global theme, “the power of youth in co-creating education,” focusing on the crucial role young people play as agents of change in shaping inclusive, relevant, and future-ready learning systems for peace and development.
