Inyathi Man Remanded for Attempted Rape of 15-Year-Old Cousin

A 25-year-old man from Inyathi has appeared before the Bulawayo Regional Magistrates’ Court facing charges of attempted rape involving his juvenile relative.
The accused, whose identity is being withheld to protect the identity of the minor, stands accused of attacking his 15-year-old cousin earlier this month.
According to the case presented by the state, the incident occurred on January 2, 2026 when the complainant entered the accused’s room to assist him with a torch. Once the teenager was inside, the accused allegedly locked the door and utilized physical force to pin the victim to a bed.
The state indicated that the complainant managed to overpower the accused in a struggle and escaped through a window, subsequently fleeing to her mother to seek help.
Following the court appearance, the matter was remanded to 28 January 2026, for further proceedings.
