Auditions Set for New Mzilikazi Stage Production

A new musical production celebrating the life of Mzilikazi kaMashobane is set to premiere in September, with auditions scheduled for July and August.

The stage play is being developed as a large-scale cultural tribute to the founder of the Ndebele nation, tracing his journey from early life through his rise as a general under Shaka Zulu, to the establishment of the Ndebele state.

Producers say the musical will highlight themes of unity and nation-building, reflecting how diverse communities, including the Khumalo, Kalanga, Tonga and Nambya, were brought together.

Creative lead Albert Nyathi says the production aims to preserve cultural heritage while using theatre to bring historical narratives to modern audiences.
