Country music legend Dolly Parton has left behind an unreleased song that is set to be heard for the first time in 2046.Titled “My Place in History,” the song was written and recorded in 2015 before being sealed in a time capsule at the DreamMore Resort at Dollywood in Tennessee.

The capsule is scheduled to be opened on 19 January 2046, which would have been Parton’s 100th birthday.

Parton previously revealed that she had second thoughts about sealing away the song, saying she believed it was particularly good. However, she wanted her music to reach future generations.

The recording is part of a wider legacy plan. Parton had reportedly prepared thousands of unreleased recordings, allowing new music to be released for years after her death.

Parton died on 25 August 2026, aged 80.
