Police in Bulawayo are investigating a case of attempted murder which occurred along Lobengula Street and 6th Avenue on the 21st of May 2021.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube , in a statement said the accused suspects assaulted the complainant with fists and a brick when a misunderstanding occurred over an undisclosed matter .
“On 21 May 2021 at around 1850 hours, the accused persons and complainant had a misunderstanding over an undisclosed issue in front of TM Egodini located along Lobengula Street between 6th Avenue and L Takawira Avenue, Bulawayo. The accused, person Xolani Tshuma hit complainant with clenched fists on the face and complainant fought back.
The accused person, Magama Cliford picked up a brick and hit complainant on the head and the complainant fell down. The two accused persons hit complainant all over the body using fists until he became unconscious and they ran away.
A crowd which had gathered drew the attention of the police who then summoned a Bulawayo City Council ambulance which ferried the complainant to Mpilo Central hospital where he is admitted.
After the ambulance had left, the two accused persons returned to the scene of crime. the informant identified the accused persons to the police who with the assistance of members of the public arrested the accused persons and escorted them to Z.R.P Bulawayo Central , ” said Inspector Ncube
Inspector Ncube appealed to members of the public to desist from violence which can lead to loss of life.
He further expressed his dismay with young people who are showing signs of intolerance .
” It is pointless to pick a mere argument and start fighting instead of concentrating on better things. It is worrying that most young persons are intolerant and that alone taints the image of the community .”
