Bulawayo Province successfully launched today the Sinopharm Covid 19 inoculation program at the United Bulawayo Hospital which targets to inoculate frontline health workers first .
Health Services Board Chairperson Dr Paulinus Sikosana received the jab first followed by the UBH Clinical Director Dr Narcisius Dzvanga and the Acting Provincial Medical Director Dr Welcome Mlilo .
Speaking at the launch Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution , Judith Ncube , said the country is targeting to inoculate at least 60% of the population to reach head immunity.
” Our health experts state that in order for us to reach the goal of achieving head immunity as a country we need to vaccinate an estimated 60 % of the population .”
Minister Ncube applauded government for prioritizing health workers .
” Front line workers have been working tirelessly to ensure the safety of citizens and it is a great move that the government considered them first during this first phase of the vaccination process.”
She however urged residents to go out in their numbers to vaccination center’s so that they can be protected.
Teams have been dispatched to Mpilo ,Mater Dei and the United Bulawayo Hospitals were vaccination is ongoing .
