Police in Bulawayo have hit a dead end in identifying suspects believed to be touts who allegedly attacked officers and a Ford Focus vehicle.

Last week two commuter omnibuses were allegedly burnt in incidents which occurred in the Bulawayo Central Business District when police clashed with commuter omnibus operators who were illegally ferrying passengers.

Provincial Police Spokesperson , Inspector Abednico Ncube , said despite the fact that the police had video footage and pictures of the suspects that were captured , the police have not gathered any concrete leads to make arrests.

” Members of the public who witnessed the incident or directly participated in it are withholding information which makes it hard for the police to conduct thorough investigations. We however appeal to anyone who might have any information that may lead to the arrest of the culprits to report to their nearest police station ” , said Inspector Ncube .

Insp Ncube added that investigations into the matter are still ongoing and that no one will get away with the crime which is a serious offence to attack police officers as well as causing damage to police vehicles.
