Level 4 Lockdown Extended by 2 More Weeks

Level 4 of the lockdown has been extended by 2more weeks following an alarming surge in Covid 19 cases of which 80% of the new infections are the Delta Variant from India.

In his address to the nation on Tuesday , H.E President Mnangagwa said the country will use the extended lockdown to vaccinate a targeted one million people.

” The plan to maintain the current Level 4 will make it possible for the immediate acceleration of the vaccination programme throughout the country.

The programme will now be taken to communities making vaccination easily accessible to these seeking this essential service.

The additional two million vaccine doses that were received this past week are enough to vaccinate a million people with each receiving the recommended two doses.

The plan is to immediately target one million people during this extended two-week Level 4 lock period ” , said the President .

President Mnangagwa also added, mechanisms to enforce the lockdown were being strengthened after the realisation that some members of the public were violating regulations, most of them taking advantage of the night to embark on the banned intercity travel.

As at July 13 73 271 Cases had been reported with 48 102 recoveries and 2 274 Deaths.
