The Passenger Association of Zimbabwe (PAZ) is advocating for the passing of the proposed Motor Vehicle accident fund to address compensation of accident victims who use public transportation .
Secretary General of P.A.Z , Mr Paul Makiwa , in an interview with Skyz Metro FM news , Makiwa said in the past many passengers who were victims of accidents were not compensated and it was a cause for concern as most cannot afford to cater for their health bills.
“Due to the high passenger genocide which ca take place on air crash ,shipwreck , rail derailments and road carnages , we appeal to cabinet to have the accident fund bill which will cater for passengers . If the bill sails through it will go a long way to save passengers in case of an accidents “, said Makiwa .
The motor vehicle fund was proposed in 2017 by the ministry of transport and infrastructural development to assist road accident victims and their families .
