The Bulawayo City Council is owed close to $808. 62 million dollars by debtors throughout the city .
According to the 2020 debtors list released by the Town Clerk Christopher Dube , Ward 1 which consists of the Central Business District , and low density suburbs such as some parts of Hillside and Burnside leads the debtors list
as it owes the local authority a total of $130.64 million dollars.
The report highlights that the $ 18 million of the debt is from domestic users whilst $112 million of the debt is from institutions.
Ward 6 that which includes Bellevue, Newton West, Barham Green, Montrose, West Sommerton, Southwold, Donnington, Belmont and Sidojiwe Hostel has the second highest debt of $84 million, with a domestic debt of about $10 million.
Third on the list is Ward 7 which consists of Westgate ,Makokoba , Thorngrove and Thorngrove industries with a cumulative total of $73.24 million dollars . $11. 53 million dollars is from domestic users and $61.72 million is owed by institutions.
Ward 4, which includes Burnside, Riverside, Buena Vista, Waterford, Fortunes Gate, Selborne Park Phases 1 and 2, owes $61 million and has the highest domestic debt of $38 million.
Ward 23 which is Nkulumane 5 , 10 and 11 has the least amount of debtors $ 8.32 million dollars .$ 7.36 million dollars domestic debt whilst $960 000 a debt owed by institutions .
