President Emmerson Mnangagwa meets Botswana President Masisi

President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday met with the Chair of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security, Botswana President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi to discuss regional and continental issues of mutual interest.

Addressing the media after the engagement, President Mnangagwa said they spoke about direct cooperation between the two countries in the education sector as well as the conflict in the Province of Cabo Delgado Mozambique.

” We have covered two significant areas one is the arranged co-operation between Zimbabwe and Botswana in the education sector .We are concerned about colonial education which we want to put behind and have education that produces goods and services , ” said the President

Concerning the issue of security and peace, President Masisi said they have formed views on SADC’s response to issues .

” We have formed views as Troika one of them will result in taking this further so that we as SADC respond in a helpful manner to make sure that the integrity and sovereignty of member states is never assaulted by non-state actor forces.”

Meanwhile President Mnangagwa yesterday pledged his support for Botswana’s Elias Mpedi as a candidate for the position of Executive Secretary for SADC.
