The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority(ZTA) has sponsored the installation of a borehole at the Old Bulawayo National Monument in a bid to refurbish the historical site which was gutted by a veld fire 11 years ago.

Speaking to Skyz Metro FM news , Minister of Environment, Climate , Tourism and Hospitality Industry Honorable Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu , said as a primary beneficiary of Tourism, the state in which Old Bulawayo National Monument is in, is a clear indication that the government is loosing a lot in terms of potential tourism especially when they want to drive tourism in Bulawayo province and surrounding areas.

“There are a lot of agencies that are working on the reconstruction of Old Bulawayo and from all these agencies we now have almost everything that is needed to re-open Old Bulawayo, ” he said .

Minister Ndlovu appreciated the National Museums which led the architectural designs to make sure that they conform to traditional structures with the hope that old Bulawayo will be open again for visitors.

The Ministry is working on engaging some specialists seeing that there are areas that need some bit of work and there was a discussion on the possibility of having small wildlife just to enhance the tourism experience.

Minister Ndlovu added that old Bulawayo is a symbol of history hence more attention should be given to it.
