Victoria Falls Town Clerk Suspended

Victoria Falls Mayor Somveli Dhlamini on Wednesday suspended Town Clerk, Ronnie Dube on allegations of acts misconduct or omission inconsistent with the fulfilment of the express conditions in his contract.

In a letter dated 28 April 2021 addressed to Dube, Dlamini said the Victoria Falls Town Clerk is suspended in terms of section 139 (3) (a) of the urban councils act chapter 29:15 with immediate effect so as to pave way for investigations which, when concluded will guide council on the course of action to take.

Dube was ordered to surrender the council vehicle, laptop and cell phone allocated to him to the office of the Mayor of Victoria Falls and not enter council premises during his suspension period.

When contacted for comment by Breeze FM, Dube dismissed the alleged suspension .

“I have not received the alleged letter of suspension from the Mayor and i have only seen it being shared on social media , ” said Dube .

Dube further said as of close of business yesterday, he was going about his council business as usual having attended a council meeting in the afternoon and is expected to fly out to Harare on Thursday where he is expected to receive the Town Clerk of the year award from Megafest Holdings.
