The Fourth Bulawayo Polytechnic International Research Conference commenced yesterday in Victoria Falls.

The conference will be running under the theme, “Lifelong TVET Solutions for Sustainable Development through Community Engagement,” and seeks to unravel innovative strategies and solutions vital for the advancement of technical and vocational education and training.

Addressing the audience, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science, and Technology Development Professor Fanuel Tagwira emphasized the critical role of innovative TVET strategies in fostering sustainable development and community engagement.

“Going forward, we must recognize the importance of investing in TVET programs and ensuring that theyare accessible to all individuals our society regardless of their background or circumstances. We need to breakdown the barears that hinder access to quality education and training.” said Professor Tagwirei

In his remarks, Professor Tagwira commended the researchers for their insightful contributions and emphasized the imperative of collaborative efforts in shaping the future of TVET education in Zimbabwe highlighting that “By doing so, we will empower individuals to become agents of change contributing to sustainable development of their communities and societies.” he further states that “The Second Republic has introduce ISOP which caters even for those without formal education but have the capacity to learn for free and also contribute to the development of the community”.

As the conference progresses, delegates anticipate engaging discussions and novel insights aimed at redefining the landscape of technical and vocational education in the pursuit of sustainable development and community empowerment.

The Fourth Bulawayo Polytechnic International Research Conference serves as a testament to Zimbabwe’s commitment to fostering innovation, excellence, and inclusivity in higher education and technological advancement
