The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Hackthology initiative has announced plans to expand to all ten provinces of Zimbabwe, providing young innovators with a platform to showcase their skills in robotics and technology. This expansion aims to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education among students and youth nationwide.

Speaking at the launch of WRO Zimbabwe 2025 at Girls College yesterday, Victoria Nxumalo, Executive Director of Girls in STEM and National Coordinator of WRO, highlighted the importance of the initiative’s growth.

“It is with great pride that I announce the 2025 expansion of the World Robot Olympiad. We are committed to ensuring that every province in our nation has access to this program,” said Nxumalo.

Nxumalo noted that reaching all provinces will allow more students from diverse backgrounds to participate, ensuring that talent across the country is recognized and nurtured.

“This expansion will ensure our students receive the opportunity to participate fully. Furthermore, it reflects our organization’s steadfast commitment to making education inclusive and accessible to all learners across the nation, regardless of their background,” Nxumalo stated.

Previously, WRO Hackthology was only available in Masvingo, Harare, and Bulawayo. With this nationwide expansion, the initiative aims to inspire innovation and creativity among Zimbabwe’s youth, shaping the next generation of leaders in technology and robotics.
