Bulawayo Gospel Star Pastor Barak Dies at 49

Bulawayo has been plunged into mourning following the death of renowned 49-year-old gospel musician and pastor, Siphethangani “Pastor Barak” Sibanda.

A respected figure in the city’s gospel music scene, Pastor Barak rose to prominence with uplifting worship anthems such as Wavuma, Bayashada, and Qina, which became favourites on Christian radio and gospel chart shows, particularly on Skyz Metro FM.

His musical journey began in the Seventh-day Adventist Church before he ventured into professional gospel music, blending traditional spiritual messages with modern instrumentation. He went on to release several well-received albums, including Jerusalem, Yimi Lo, Wavuma, and his latest offering, Bayethe.

Beyond the stage, Pastor Barak was known for his community outreach and ministry work, which earned him a loyal following.

Mourners are gathered at 91 Percy Avenue, Hillside, Bulawayo.
