The U.S. Embassy in Harare commemorated the 249th anniversary of American Independence on June 4 with a vibrant reception that brought together senior Zimbabwean government officials, diplomats, business leaders, civil society representatives, academics, and U.S. exchange program alumni.
Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Honourable Professor Dr. Amon Murwira, joined U.S. Ambassador Pamela M. Tremont in marking the milestone. The celebration also recognized 45 years of diplomatic relations between Zimbabwe and the United States.
Ambassador Tremont reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to Zimbabwe’s prosperity, underlining democratic governance and economic opportunity as key pillars of engagement. She highlighted USAID’s ongoing contributions and emphasized the U.S. administration’s broader goal to expand trade and investment across Africa.
Minister Murwira welcomed increased commercial collaboration and assured American and international investors of Zimbabwe’s commitment to supporting their operations and growth in the country.
