A resident of Bulawayo has been arrested in connection with the theft of US$46,000 from a parked vehicle in Kwekwe’s Central Business District.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Homicide in Bulawayo acted on a tip-off and apprehended the suspect at a house in Cowdray Park on 8 June 2025.

The arrest led to the recovery of several key items, including a cellphone suspected to have been purchased using the stolen funds, a suspected getaway vehicle with mismatched registration plates, tools believed to have been used in the crime, and clothing matching that seen in CCTV footage from the scene.

Police say seven other suspects linked to the case are still at large. Authorities are urging the public to assist with information that could lead to their arrest by contacting the National Complaints Desk at (0242) 703 631 or via WhatsApp at 0712 800 197.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police have reaffirmed their commitment to bringing all those involved to justice.
