Mentally Challenged Man Nabbed After Killing Villager With Axe and Hammer

A 25-year-old man from Munkunku Village in Binga has been remanded in custody by the Hwange Regional Court following a tragic incident that led to the death of a fellow villager.

The incident occurred on 18 June 2025 in the Chief Saba area. It is alleged that the accused stormed the victim’s homestead, threatened the victim’s wife with an axe, and later struck the victim on the head multiple times using both an axe and a hammer, resulting in his death.

The accused, who is believed to be mentally challenged, was apprehended shortly after the incident. He is set to undergo psychiatric evaluation by two doctors and is expected back in court today.
