The Zimbabwe Sables have stormed into the semi-finals of the Rugby Africa Cup after a dominant 43-8 victory over Morocco in the quarter-final played in Uganda earlier today.
It was a strong start to the 2027 Rugby World Cup qualification campaign for the Sables, who are the defending champions of the tournament.
Zimbabwe showed class and control from the first whistle, combining solid forward play with quick backline moves to overwhelm the North Africans.
Captain Hilton Mudariki led from the front, while forwards Tinotenda Mavesere and Kudakwashe Nyakufaringwa impressed with their work rate and physicality. Fullback Tapiwa Mafura was also in fine form, slicing through the Moroccan defence to score a crucial try.
By halftime, the Sables had already built a healthy 16-5 lead and kept the pressure on in the second half, sealing the game with a series of well-executed tries.
Zimbabwe will now face either Kenya or hosts Uganda in Sunday’s semi-final, a match expected to be a tough test for the Sables as they continue their bid to return to the Rugby World Cup for the first time since 1991.
The winner of the Rugby Africa Cup will secure the continent’s sole ticket to the 2027 World Cup in Australia.
