South Africa completed a dominant victory over Zimbabwe, winning the second Test by an innings and 236 runs at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Tuesday to seal the series 2-0.
The Proteas were simply too strong across all departments, with Wiaan Mulder’s record-breaking 367 not out setting the tone for the match. His knock was the highest ever Test score on Zimbabwean soil and the fifth-highest in Test history.
After declaring on a mammoth 626 for five, South Africa’s bowlers took centre stage, dismissing Zimbabwe for just 170 in their first innings. Sean Williams stood out with a fighting 83 not out, but found little support from his teammates.
Forced to follow on 456 runs behind, Zimbabwe’s second innings fared no better. Despite a promising start from Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Dion Myers, the hosts crumbled again, with spinners Prenelan Subrayen and Senuran Muthusamy sharing key wickets.
Zimbabwe were bowled out for 220 late on Day 3.
