The Zimbabwe Republic Police in Bulawayo are searching for three suspects who staged a daring armed robbery in the city centre on Sunday evening.
The attack happened around 6:45 pm at the corner of Fife Street and 12th Avenue, outside a food outlet.
Police say a 33-year-old man from Pelandaba West was waiting in his white Nissan Note when the gang, armed with a pistol, confronted him. One suspect tried to open the driver’s door, but when it was locked, he smashed the window and fired four shots, injuring the victim’s right hand.
The man fled, leaving behind a black bag containing four thousand US dollars and sixty thousand rand. The robbers grabbed the cash and fled the scene.
Police have urged the public not to carry large sums of money and to report any suspicious activity. They also appealed for information to help track down the suspects.
This incident comes amid rising cases of armed robberies and car hijackings in the city.
