In a heartwarming display of community solidarity, Ronminex Investments, in collaboration with Simpatico, Hope Love Foundation, and Masiye Trust, hosted a girl child empowerment event at Good Hope Secondary School in Pumula South.
The initiative brought together local businesswomen, many of whom hail from Pumula South, to give back to their community and support young girls and families in need.
The event, spearheaded by Ronminex founder and CEO Judila Ndebele, was deeply personal. Reflecting on her own upbringing marked by hardship, Ndebele expressed that her experiences fueled her passion for community upliftment.
Ndebele stated that, “I grew up under difficult circumstances, having no access to things such as toothpaste, pads and even clothes, so l built Ronminex to make my life better and be able to help the needy”.
The outreach provided essential items such as sanitary pads and clothes to over 105 girls and 15 families. One expectant mother, Nokuthaba Ndlovu, expressed gratitude for the baby clothes she received, noting their significant help during her pregnancy.
“This programme helped the community a lot, especially for me a pregnant woman who had no plan of how l was gonna prepare for my child’s birth but now l have a start,” she said.
Youth attendee Michelle Tshuma highlighted the challenges many girls face in accessing sanitary products, often leading to desperate measures.
“I’m happy that many girls were able to receive pads, especially thesedays where it is hard to earn money, girls don’t have to resort to violating means to get money,” said Tshuma.
Ward 17 Councilor Skhululekile Moyo commended the initiative, emphasizing the importance of local businesses supporting their communities reducing reliance on external aid. Ndebele announced plans to extend the program to Ward 23 on August 16, reinforcing her commitment to community development.
