The Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Winston Chitando, says Zimbabwe is open for more local and international investment in its mining sector.
Speaking during the post cabinet briefing, Minister Chitando said the country is rich in gold, platinum, lithium, diamonds, coal, and chrome, and that government reforms are making it easier to do business.
He said “Zimbabwe holds some of the world’s largest platinum and lithium reserves,” which are “key minerals for clean energy and electric vehicles.”
Minister Chitando added that new policies aim to speed up licensing and ensure local communities benefit from mining projects.
He also encouraged companies to process minerals locally to create jobs and grow the economy.
Zimbabwe is targeting 12 billion US dollars in annual mining earnings by 2030 under Vision 2030.
