Ngezi Platinum Stars have been hit with a three-term transfer ban after failing to settle a debt of nearly US$200 000 owed to former head coach Bongani Mafu.

The ban, which takes effect from this January, means the Mhondoro-Ngezi side will not be allowed to register or sign any new players during the next three transfer windows.

FIFA imposed the sanction after ruling in favour of Mafu, who was dismissed in July 2022, just three months into his contract.

The world football governing body ordered the club to pay US$196,750, but failure to meet the obligation has now resulted in the transfer restriction.

Ngezi will only be allowed back into the market once the outstanding amount is fully paid.
