The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rejected a protest by the Moroccan Football Federation over the 2025 AFCON final, ruling that the result stands and Senegal remain African champions.

CAF’s Disciplinary Board said there was no breach of competition regulations, and confirmed the decision is final, with no replay or review.

However, CAF imposed significant sanctions on both associations. Morocco’s FA was fined for improper conduct, including the behaviour of ball boys, players and technical staff entering the VAR area, and the use of lasers by supporters.

Moroccan midfielder Ismaël Saibari received a three-match ban, while Achraf Hakimi was suspended for two matches, one of them suspended.

Senegal’s FA was also fined for supporter and team misconduct. Players Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaïla Sarr were suspended for two matches each, while head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw received a five-match ban.

CAF says the sanctions reflect a continued crackdown on unsporting behaviour.
