Hwange residents can expect new infrastructure projects in 2026 after Local Government and Public works Minister Daniel Garwe approved the Hwange Local Board’s US$7,93 million budget.
The approval, granted on 28 January, allows the board to implement its financial plan with effect from 1 January 2026.
According to the local authority, the total budget stands at just over US$7,9 million, with US$3,68 million allocated to revenue and US$4,24 million set aside for capital projects.
Council says the larger capital allocation will prioritise infrastructure development, maintenance, and upgrades to key services including roads, water and sanitation.
In a notice, the Hwange Local Board thanked residents, businesses and institutions for contributing to the consultative process and pledged prudent financial management and improved service delivery.
The approval comes as local authorities face growing pressure to demonstrate accountability and deliver visible improvements.
