The National Social Security Authority (NSSA) will increase monthly pension payouts by nearly 30 percent from 1 October 2026, benefiting more than 258-thousand beneficiaries.

Under the Pension and Other Benefits Scheme, about 250-thousand beneficiaries will see their monthly payments rise from US$70 to US$90, while 8-thousand Accident Prevention and Workers Compensation Scheme beneficiaries will receive an increase from US$100 to US$130.

The increases follow a significant improvement in NSSA’s financial position, with investment income rising from US$3 million in 2022 to about US$40 million, while its asset base grew from about US$300 million to US$1.3 billion over three years.

NSSA is also developing a programme to extend social security coverage to more than three million informal-sector workers.
