Econet Wireless Zimbabwe says their clients are not being defrauded of their data but instead, constant network upgrades have resulted in faster user experience which has contributed to high data consumption.
This comes after econet received multiple complaints from different individuals over the unexplained high data consumption by the network provider.
Speaking at the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) stakeholders Indaba recently, Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) Kezito Makuni said that data is not disappearing from people’s phones but network upgrades from 3G to 4G has had the most impact on the data consumption on subscribers’ phones due to high speed browsing.
“We have been receiving complaints from our customers that dat is disappearing from their phones and they cant account where their airtime is going. This has all been because there has been continuous improvements in the network, whereby upgrades from 3G to 4G have been taking place, which has seen most users experiencing faster browsing, that has had an impact on data consumption for different customers leaving them with a task to spend more on data,” said Mr Makuni.
Mr Makuni further added that there is need for the customers to approach their network providers for a report to trace the airtime and data usage on their phones.
