Prosecutor General lauds NPAZ Tikki Hywood Partnership

The Prosecutor General Hon. Loyce Matanda-Moyo has commended Public Prosecutors for the significant strides made in the prosecution of wildlife cases.
Statistics show that the NPAZ had an 88% rate of completion of wildlife cases in the year 2023.

Hon. Matanda Moyo said this at a graduation and prize giving ceremony for Public Prosecutors held by the Tikki Hywood Foundation following a training conducted by the Foundation on the prosecution of wildlife cases.

She emphasized that 50% of the cases received by the NPAZ in 2023 involved unlawful hunting whilst the rest involved possession of unmarked ivory, possession of live Pangolin and unlawful possession of trophies.

The Prosecutor General implored the Prosecutors to use their position in society to disrupt criminal networks involved in the commission of wildlife crime.

Lisa Hywood, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tikki Hywood Foundation said that “the fight against wildlife crime requires that everybody pulls in one direction in order for the nation to realize the results. She added that training of Public Prosecutors is one way of equipping those in the front line with the necessary tools in fighting wildlife crime.
