Zimbabwe Republic Police recorded fewer road traffic accidents during the 2024 Independence Day Holiday compared to the same period in 2023.

He added that police recorded a total number of 6 fatal road accidents this year compared to 4 that occurred during the Independence Day holiday last year.
Assistant commissioner Nyathi says 9 people were killed in the road carnages, which is an increase from 4 the previous year. The number of people injured also increased to 25 this year from 22 in 2023.
ZRP has attributed most of the accidents to human error, which Indude speeding, inattention, misjudgment, overtaking error, and failure to observe road rules and regulations by drivers.
