A digital company Baker Tilly has alluded that the ermerging technologies and innovation hubs have a role to play in tackling and mitigating Climate Change challenges in the country in years to come.

This came during the Digital Economy conference that was held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) today.

Baker Tilly digital technology risk and assurance manager Martin Muduva said that there is need for the country to embrace the new emerging technologies especially in the metereological department, as a way to tackle the growing problem of climate change which has had a negative impact on the lives of people and food production processes in the country.

“We expect to gain much from the emerging technologies which has a part to play in the prediction of weather patterns and seasonal shifts that have been occuring in recent years. This will give the government enough time to plan and allocate resources as part of preparations for future disasters while also helping in formulating different policies pertaining to climate change,” said Muduva.

Mr Muduva further added that technology will not only impact the climate and environment sector but it also has a role to play in the health department through development of robotics in laboratories to help in the treatment of different medical conditions.
