A 28-year-old man from Famona, Inyathi, has been convicted and fined by the Inyathi Magistrates Court after being found in possession of explosives stashed inside his home.

Acting on a tip-off, police officers swooped on Learnmore Ndebele’s residence on June 14, 2025, and uncovered a hidden stockpile that included six emerax detonators, three fuses, and two lighting cords.

Investigations revealed that Ndebele had no licence, permit, or lawful authority to possess the explosives. He also failed to produce any documentation justifying ownership.

The court slapped him with a US$200 fine, with an alternative of four months behind bars if he fails to pay.
