Nkayi Man Appears in Court on Rape Charge

A 28-year-old man from Nkayi has appeared at the Nkayi Magistrates’ Court, facing a charge of rape.
According to allegations, the accused, who is the uncle of the 15-year-old complainant, sexually assaulted her in a bushy area on 28 July 2025.
The incident reportedly took place after the complainant followed the accused to a well to assist him with water buckets.
While she was in the bush to relieve herself, the accused allegedly followed her, requested to have sexual intercourse, and upon her refusal, pushed her to the ground and raped her.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to the man’s arrest. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Bulawayo Regional Court on 26 August.
