The City of Bulawayo will take part in the national Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign from the 6th to the 10th of October.

Bulawayo City Council said the campaign is targeting all children between 6 months and 15 years, regardless of whether they were vaccinated before.

Children between 6 and 59 months will also receive Vitamin A supplements, especially those who missed their doses.

The vaccinations will be available at municipal clinics, central hospitals including Mater Dei, selected private surgeries, crèches, primary schools, churches, and outreach points.

The local authority said this is an important step to protect children from future outbreaks of measles and rubella. The country last experienced a spike in measles cases in 2022, with most infections recorded among children.

Parents and guardians are being urged to take their children for vaccination during this period to boost immunity and help Zimbabwe maintain its public health gains.
