A Bulawayo man has been sentenced to five years in prison for dealing in crystal meth, a dangerous and highly addictive drug.
39-year-old Tyron Siegfried Pigors of Matsheumhlophe was convicted by the Bulawayo Regional Court after a lengthy investigation.
The court heard he had been supplying the drug, commonly known as mutoriro, within local communities, fuelling growing concerns about drug abuse in the city.
Authorities say the conviction is part of wider efforts to crack down on drug trafficking across Zimbabwe, where substance abuse among young people is on the rise.
A court official noted that Pigors showed no remorse during the trial, adding that the sentence should serve as a strong warning to other drug dealers.
The National Prosecuting Authority welcomed the ruling and urged the public to continue reporting drug-related crimes to help protect communities.
