Highlanders Football Club has received a major boost after getting the second portion of US$250 000 from businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo.
The payment brings the total amount received to half a million dollars, part of Chivayo’s US$1 million pledge to support Bosso through the 2025 season.
The funds have helped improve player welfare, pay winning bonuses, travel costs, and match allowances. Some of the money is also being used to upgrade training pitches and build a perimeter wall at the club’s clubhouse.
In a statement, Highlanders Club chairman Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe thanked Chivayo for his continued support, saying the gesture will lift team morale and inspire better performances.
Chivayo has previously helped the club settle a US$27 000 FIFA debt owed to former coaches Baltemar Brito and Antonio Torres.
